Measures muscle memory skills that rapidly improve player performance. Company targets March Kickstarter campaign to support broad-market offering and Deemonstration at MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference, March 1-2 in Boston

Dublin, OH. (February 27, 2013) InfoMotion Sports Technologies (www.infomotionsports.com) today unveiled its 94Fifty sensor basketball, the first and most advanced digital sport product that measures basketball skills in real time. The new 94Fifty basketball uses the most advanced sensor suite available in digital sports to break down all aspects of a user’s game, from ball-handling and shooting to athleticism. The information is delivered through Bluetooth® technology using a robust mobile app that allows users to interact with their own real-world skills or with others in a digital format—resulting in elite level training and an immersive fan experience.

The new basketball is being offered through an initial KickStarter campaign to be released in early March, 2013. Additionally, InfoMotion will be demonstrating the basketball’s capabilities during the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference March 1-2 in Boston as a sponsor of the Interactive Technology room at the conference.

The ball utilizes the company’s proprietary Point of Force measurement technologies. These technologies, include sensors and sophisticated counting algorithms that instantly measure over 6,000 pieces of data per second, analyze the forces imparted by the player into the ball in practice or game situations to derive consistent snapshots showing how the player shoots, handles or moves with the ball.

The consumer version of the 94Fifty sensor basketball line will include a robust downloadable app available on iOS and Android devices. The app provides customized workouts that advance the players through skill levels as well as the ability to measure shot arc, shot speed, backspin, dribble intensity, and many other skills that lead to better play on the court. The player experience also includes competing head to head with any player on any skill metric as well as competing with players anywhere in the world. The 94Fifty basketball leverages technology from Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) in its sensor array including Bluetooth/Bluetooth low energy dual-mode connectivity, a digital signal processor (DSP) to perform the complex analytics, and Qi-compliant wireless power technology to enable the balls to be recharged without plugs or wires.

“One of the advantages of the point-of-force approach is that we measure muscle memory, which develops early and responds rapidly to practice. This allows consumers to engage and remain engaged with their own development because the results can be improved quickly with practice. A skill-based approach also gives us an almost unlimited number of ways for players to compete and engage with others,” said Mike Crowley, CEO of InfoMotion Sports Technologies. “The technological innovations necessary to bring this basketball to market were substantial and involved a wide range of technologies and engineering. In the end, the information the ball provides to consumers was designed by basketball experts to enable rapid skill development. We worked closely with TI to push the limits of available technologies to deliver a truly unique and game-changing product.”

“InfoMotion’s innovation to deliver a basketball with these capabilities is impressive,” said Tim Adcock, sports innovation specialist from TI. “They use the full capabilities of our Bluetooth wireless connectivity, wireless power battery recharging and DSP analytics in unique ways to deliver an awesome product for everyday use by basketball players at all skill levels.”

InfoMotion’s first products launched in 2011 and were designed for teams and organizations. 94Fifty products are the first digital sports products to embed inertial motions sensors inside the ball to allow players to instantly analyze muscle memory skill. Its initial team products are used by teams at all levels and used by customers in over 10 countries.

The product will initially be available via online sales only with estimated ship dates in the 3rd quarter of 2013. It will retail for US$295. “Our research has shown a huge need in the market for a product with these capabilities, and compared to other ways that players spend to improve, this is a great value because it provides elite level training, diagnostics, and competition at an affordable price,” added Crowley.

Popular Show Uses 94Fifty Skill Measurement Technology During its Recent Series on NBA Draft Picks.

Dublin, OH. (June 21, 2011) ESPN Sport Science recently featured 94Fifty’s Total Skill Measurement products for several of its basketball segments. The popular sports show released three segments during NBA draft week in June highlighting the skills of Derrick Williams, Brandon Knight, and Kawhi Leonard while using the 94Fifty system.

“We are excited to be able work with ESPN Sport Science and their team to bring the latest technology products to sports and their viewership. Our products are the first of its kind built specifically to measure basketball skill.” Said Mike Crowley, CEO of 94Fifty Sports Technologies.

The 94Fifty system, which is the first of its kind to embed inertial motions sensors inside the ball to analyze muscle memory skill, helped ESPN Sport Science’ staff to analyze the shooting mechanics of all three players as they prepared for the NBA draft. Each player was selected within the first 15 picks of the first round.

“We have been extremely impressed by how easy it is for our staff to use this product and the detail and quantity of information it provides us,” added John Brenkus, Creator and Host of ESPN Sport Science. “94Fifty provides us with great flexibility to test skills as we show our audience the science behind the level of skill that these players bring to sports. They have truly set a new standard for sports technologies in bringing a product like this to the market.”

During each five minute segment, the 94Fifty system was used to measure each player’s shot speed, shot release angle, shot entry angle to the basket, and ball rotation. The Company sells the same product to College, High School and AAU programs in the U.S. and has customers in North America, Europe, and Asia.

Dylan Garrity and Kari Korver claim 2011 overall titles as top talent on display during CIF-SS finals.

Anaheim, CA (March 7, 2011). InfoMotion Sports Technologies, which operates the 94Fifty Sports Technologies basketball brand, announced today that Senior Dylan Garrity from Edison High School, (Huntington Beach) and Junior Kari Korver from Valley Christian High School (Cerritos) each won the 94Fifty/CIF-SS skills challenge held at the CIF-SS finals last week. Over 60 participants competed, each nominated as the MVP of their respective leagues, in both the men’s and women’s divisions.

For the competition, each player performed a series of ball-handling and shooting drills using 94Fifty’s Total Skill Measurement technology, which utilizes sensors inside the basketball to measure the skills of the player. There were two rounds to determine the overall skill champion, with a ball-handling and shooting champion named after the preliminary rounds. The first round of the competition required players to complete a set of advanced ball-handling drills and a 10-shot shooting sequence, where the sensors would record elements such as a player’s control of the ball, hand speed, coordination, and shot release speed. Ball-handling and shooting scores were then combined into a final score to select the top 5 boys and girls to compete in the final round.

“We were very impressed by the skill level of all of the players who competed, and our sensor-embedded products performed very well in allowing us to count skills that the human eye is just not meant to see. “ Said Mike Crowley, 94Fifty CEO. “The two champions earned their titles by showing they have clearly worked hard over the years to perfect their skills.”

In addition to the overall champions, 94Fifty also crowned a top ball-handler and top shooter for the men’s and women’s division. On the Men’s side, Sophomore Max McCoy from Simi Valley Royal high school won the shooting competition, while Gary Mathews (Whittier High School) took the ball-handling crown. For the women’s division, Tyler Kim (Marlborough High School) won the ball-handling crown while Korver, the overall champion, also took the shooting crown.

“We thought the competition highlighted the exceptional skill we have in Southern California, and we hope that it sets the standard for basketball skill development in our region and for the U.S.” added Rainer Wulf, Assistant Commissioner of the CIF-SS. “We wanted to do something unique and that has never been seen before, and working with 94Fifty was a great way to accomplish that goal. Congratulations to Dylan and Kari for claiming the 2011 titles”

LOS ALAMITOS, CA. The CIF Southern Section and 94Fifty Sports Technologies announced today an exclusive partnership to jointly host the first skill competition of its kind for a high school championship tournament.

During the CIF Southern Section-Ford Basketball Championships, presented by Farmers held at the Anaheim Arena between March 1-5, 2011, 94Fifty Sports Technologies will utilize its innovative Total Skill measurement technology to test and score the ball-handling and shooting skills of players nominated by the over 80 leagues that comprise the CIF-SS. Each Southern Section league will nominate a boy and girl participant in the inaugural CIF-SS-94Fifty Basketball Skills Challenge.

“We are very excited to add this exciting element to our Southern Section Basketball Championships in 2011,” said Rainer Wulf, Assistant Commissioner of the CIF-SS and section administrator for basketball. “94Fifty has really revolutionized how skills can be measured objectively and precisely, and with this competition it will show players throughout the Southern Section the importance of fundamentals and skill development for being successful on the court. We think it will add an exciting and entertaining element to the entire CIF-SS championship week.”

94Fifty will utilize its technology to name a top ball-hander, top shooter, and top overall skill champion for boys and girls throughout the week. The Company’s products include basketballs embedded with special motion sensors that capture the proficiency of the player’s muscle memory, which are highly correlated to high levels of skill. By putting a player through a series of ball-handling and shooting drills, the basketballs simultaneously count thousands of pieces of information about the ball per second. The resulting measurements are quantified and then scored to determine a comparable skill level, and then prescribe corrective action. 94Fifty sells its products as a cost-effective but revolutionary training tool to high schools, colleges, AAU programs and clubs throughout the U.S. and Europe.

“We are extremely excited about this event and in working with CIF-SS.” said Michael Crowley, Founder and CEO of 94Fifty Sports Technologies. “It is clearly a forward-thinking organization that is fully committed to building the most talented basketball players in the country. We look forward to highlighting the skills that have been developed through thousands of hours of hard work by the players nominated to compete.”

About 94Fifty Sports Technologies. (www.94Fifty.com) 94Fifty Sports Technologies develops sophisticated but cost-effective skill analysis technologies for the mass market. It is committed to bringing new information to both elite level and youth level basketball so that players can better develop skills and coaches can have objective information to rapidly improve skill development. It hosts the world’s first online basketball community based on a player’s objective and comparable skill information.
